Taylor and John were wed at Northside UMC on December 17th with their reception following at the Piedmont Room. Taylor wanted a classic winter wedding.....sans the typical holiday colors and decor that usually goes along with winter events. Tons of candlelight, a bit of live garland, and touches of metallic gold and silver were combined with a truly classic ivory and navy backdrop for an absolutely stunning effect.

First, some room shots:

The florist provided chargers and specialty napkins for the Estate Table. They were loosely tied with a painted glass pine cone ornament.....which tied perfectly into the live garland that ran the length of the Estate Table. Gorgeous.

I was so obsessed with her crystal candle lamps that I used them at my own wedding!

Their beautiful cake was placed right smack in the center of the room so guests so it immediately when they walked in. I LOVED the placement of the cake!

And now some party shots because after all, this was a major party! Taylor and John hired the New South Players from East Coast Entertainment to entertain their guests and keep everyone on the dance floor all night.

No party is complete without a good late night snack. Having a bit of a sweet tooth, I am always a fan of a great Candy Station. The couple's featured tons of delish chocolates wrapped in gorgeous silver, gold and navy blue foil wraps.

Bright Chinese lanterns, coordinating silk linens and a super cute dessert bar featuring orange & pink treats made for a super fun and festive atmosphere. Eliana from Elly B Events added special touches like ribbon mobiles hung from the ceiling and coordinated the entire day with flawless execution (as always!). Our Labor of Love captured the day with ahhh-mazing photos I am still swooning over.

Hitched! Sydney & Joel

Sydney and Joel tied the knot on Friday June 17th in the Piedmont Room. Wanting a look that was elegant, dramatic and bold, Sydney chose a black and white color palette with pops of fuchsia. Lush, bright florals, pearls and a chandelier motif echoed through her table names and escort cards helped carry her gorgeous vision through.

After the ceremony, the Bridal Party took advantage of the beautiful sunlight in the Park.

Tulip provided all of the centerpieces as well as the specialty linens. They even created custom napkin rings made of strands of pearls!

Meagan and Mark were hitched in May underneath the willows in the Meadow. We just received these gorgeous photos from Catherine at My Life Photography and couldn't wait to share them!

I adore this photo of their First Kiss!

Before joining the reception, the Bridal Party headed out into the Park for some great early evening shots.

Meagan and Mark chose a palette of pink and gray for their reception. Their favors provided small pops of bright color on the tables.

Gigi's Cupcakes created this adorable cupcake display incorporating the bride's pink color palette into the design.

Scott from Spectrum Entertainment kept the dance floor packed all night.

Advice from Photographers: Wedding Day Timeline

We stumbled across this great article on Style Me Pretty and had to share it with our fabulous brides. Written by Robert & Kathleen Photographers, this article is filled to the brim with great advice and suggestions on how to make your wedding day flow as seamlessly as possible. A few of our favorites:

~Make sure a friend or family member attends the final dress fitting. Not only is it helpful to have an extra set of eyes to see exactly how the dress is supposed to be worn and put on, it will ensure that when it comes time to party, the bustle can be done in just seconds.

~The First Look: While many couples are opposed to seeing each other before the ceremony, doing a "First Look" allows the couple to see each other privately before the ceremony and enjoy a few moments alone to reflect on their excitement and happiness.

~Creating a VERY detailed list of the photos you want, including photos with each family member/bridal party member and the specific locations/backdrops you wish to have pictures at.

Hitched! Jessica and Sam

It's been a while since our last post, mainly because we've been going full-steam-ahead through the busy spring wedding season. This week we've finally had a moment to catch our breath and couldn't wait to share some pics from Jessica and Sam's wedding a few weeks ago. Both Jessica and Sam are lawyers and believe me, they know how to have a good time! This couple is fun-loving, carefree and just plain cool....not to mention that Jessica may have missed her calling as a wedding designer because she had so many incredible DIY touches at her big day!

Jessica & Sam's color scheme featured just the right amount of BRIGHT fuschia and orange, with undertones of classic champagne. Perfect for spring and it totally reflected their bubbly, lively personalities.

The cake, deisgned by Couture Cakes, was absolutely gorgeous and helped carry the theme of the decor. I'm still waiting on shots of the couple's dessert bar. Pink & orange poms and hundreds of flowing ribbons provided the backdrop to this incredible station, which featured flavored popcorns, macaroons and cake pops. All in shades of pink and orange of course.

Just as the ceremony started, an ice cream truck drove by, adding some funny & festive music to the ceremony prelude. The guests had a quick giggle just before Jessica emerged to make her walk down the aisle to Sam. After the ceremony, the Bridal Party was able to catch some pics with the truck. So cool!

Joel from Lethal Rhythms provided great music throughout the night and even let Jessica get in on the action. I love this shot!:

Delish!! Food & Drink Trends

There are a lot of things that will stand out to your guests after the wedding is over. We strongly believe that food is one of those things! When you have a great meal or try something new & different at a wedding, that experience will be a fun & memorable one.

One of the most fun wedding trends we're seeing now is 'Late Night' Snacks. With these, your guests definitely won't be leaving the reception looking for the nearest drive-through! Late Night Snacks are typically served about an hour before the end of the party and are usually comfort foods. They're meant to be enjoyed in just a few bites so guests can get back to the dance floor (or never even leave!). Some of our favorites are our Mini Grilled Cheeses with Fries and Sliders or Freshly Baked Chocolate Chip Cookies and Mini Milkshake Shooters. Imagine your guests' eyes when these come rolling out of the kitchen!

Another thing we love is a good cocktail (who doesn't?!). We've all seen specialty cocktails at weddings before but we love ones that tell a story about the Bride & Groom. If you and your fiance were both born & raised in Georgia, a Peach Martini is a great choice. One of our recent couples had their first date on the patio of a Mexican restaurant so they served Margaritas & our famous Sangria during the cocktail reception. Can't think of a drink to reflect one of your 'stories' as a couple? You can never go wrong by serving a seasonal drink, such as a Peppermint Martini for winter or Dragonberry Lemonade for spring or summer.

Southern Living debuted their new bridal magazine, "Southern Living Weddings" this month. And, guess what! One of our gorgeous weddings is featured in it! We were thrilled when we heard the great news. Here's a sneak peek:

Laura had a very strong vision for the design of her reception. Her ceremony backdrop consisted of hundreds of pink, orange, and yellow ribbons which flowed between the willow trees. For her reception tables, she collected vintage milk glass and other vessels to hold beautfiul assortments of pale pink peonies and other gorgeous spring flowers. A reclaimed yellow wooden shutter was propped against the wall to display her place cards. And in lieu of a traditional wedding cake, she served a fabulous display of cupcakes and donuts--delish!! Laura and Ben were a delight to work with and we're thrilled that we got to be a part of their wedding day.

Dreaming of a White Christmas

This frigid cold spell has all of us day-dreaming of of snow days spent enjoying some hot toddies, relaxing by a roaring fire......Unfortunately, there's no snow (yet!) and we're here in the office, but these pictures from Jennifer's wedding last December remind us just how beautiful the winter can be. We couldn't help but feature these images again because we love them so much!

Elizabeth and Chris tied the knot on August 7th in the Meadow, with their reception following underneath the Garden Tent. Edge Design Group blew us away with the stunning decor. The rose petal aisle and white lanterns were simple yet stunning and really 'popped' against the green background. It was a clean, understated look that had a really dramatic look. We love, love, love the white 'scroll' pattern they created with the petals!

I loved Elizabeth's Swiss Dot dress. I thought it was PERFECT for an outdoor, summer wedding!

Hitched! Amy and Ryan

Amy and Ryan tied the knot at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church on Saturday June 12th. After the ceremony, their family and friends headed over to the Garden Tent for the gorgeous reception which featured varying black & white damask prints and bold touches of magenta and lime green.

Tamara from I Do Linens provided a fabulous assortment of beautiful printed linens, including napkins, table runners and overlays. She even custom made pillows featuring the couple's initials to set around the lounge areas. The tables were decorated with lush arrangements from Unique Floral Expressions. The centerpieces also included some candelabras that were dripping in crystals. Celso's created an amazing cake that matched the magenta and lime color scheme.

For the seating assignments, rather than number the tables, Amy named each table after a college. Ryan's grandfather is the legendary Bobby Bowden so this was a great way to incorporate something that was so important to the family. It also proved to be a great conversation piece as it got everyone reminiscing about their own memories related to college football!

For dinner, guests dined from interactive food stations focusing on Southern style food, including a Shrimp & Grits Martini Bar and a Chef-Attended Hash Browns Station.

Hitched: Jana and Adam!

Jana and Adam were married on May 15th at the beautiful Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Buckhead with their reception following in the Garden Tent. 13:13 Photography captured some AMAZING shots of the newlyweds and posted a few on their blog.

Jana chose a gorgeous color scheme of champagnes and pinks. For the centerpieces, Traci from Fresh Attitudes brought the brightest, prettiest peonies I have ever seen!

And her cake was like nothing I have ever seen---a realistic replica of her beautiful dress!

Mark from Baker's Man did an absolutely incredible job and created a work of art. We felt guilty cutting into it!

After a send-off with UGA and Auburn pom-poms, the couple was whisked away in a vintage Rolls Royce.

Leslie and Brad were married on Saturday May 1st in the Meadow, with their reception following in the Garden Tent. Some suspicious looking clouds loomed for most of the afternoon but finally cleared just in time for the wedding! Here are a few of our favorite shots of the day:

Leslie enlisted a fabulous team of vendors to make her visions for her wedding day a reality. Blossoms Atlanta provided gorgeous flowers filled with orange, green and light pink blooms. Shimmer got all of the guests on the dance floor to dance the night away, and Jessica Horowitz was there with her camera to capture every amazing moment! Lisa & Brian tied the knot Friday May 7th in the Meadow. Their fabulous photographers, Nate and Travis from The Dorn Brothers, were nice enough to send us a couple of their favorite shots from the day:

Excited about their two-week honeymoon to Italy, Lisa and Brian had an Italian themed reception. Rather than traditional table numbers, they named their tables after cities they would be visiting. Place cards were set in wine corks and displayed as guests entered the tent after the ceremony. For dinner they served a fabulous Antipasto Display along with an interactive Pasta Station to continue the Italian theme!

One of our most popular interactive dinner stations is the Shrimp & Grits Martini station, which features Wild American Shrimp atop creamy stone-ground grits, served with your choice of 'fixins'. Or, refresh your guests during the cocktail hour by serving Mint Juleps or Sweet Tea Vodka & Lemonade Cocktails (our mouths are watering just thinking of this!!). Serve the vodka cocktail in a Mason Jar to make it even more authentic.

Patricia and Jay got married in the Meadow and held their reception in the Garden Tent on October 3rd. As an interior designer, Patricia had a very defined and clear aesthetic in mind for her wedding day. Her color scheme consisted of dark plum, celadon and ivory.

Winter Wonderland

One of our favorite Winter Weddings for 2009 was of Jennifer and Brian Christy's beautiful Winter Wonderland themed Reception in the Piedmont Room on December 19th. Jennifer wanted to transform the look and feel of the Piedmont Room, so she enlisted the help of one of Atlanta's best florists, Edge Design Group. Edge brought Jennifer's vision to life by using snow covered branches dripping with white florals. They extended the look to the tabletops where faux snow covered the bases of the centerpieces and tiny tea candles reflected off of her shimmery linens. Chair Covers and Linens provided Jennifer with custom silver and white table linens along with silver chair covers. Edge illuminated the ceiling and walls with Ice blue LED lighting. Guests feasted on Chef Ramiro's custom 3-course seated dinner, which featured Filet Mignon & Chicken Scallopini. After dinner, guests were treated to a delicious wedding cake from Frosted Pumpkin. Joel Rabe with Lethal Rhythms quickly got everyone on the dance floor and even the Bride showed off her "spinning" technique. The clock struck midnight and the party was far from being over. Tasty Sliders and Grilled Cheese Sandwiches were passed as late night snacks. Thanks Project Duo for capturing Brian and Jennifer's amazing moments and sharing pictures with us. Congratulations Jennifer and Brian!

AWESOME Proposal Video!

One of our couples just shared their proposal video with us and we are SO excited to pass it on to you. Mike and Cindy are getting married in the Piedmont Room on June 19th.

Here is the proposal story, from Mike:

"I have tried to convince Cindy to let me read a story to her second grade classroom throughout the entire year that we have dated. Finally, I decided to take it upon myself to surprise her with a little visit. I coordinated with another teacher and the assistant principal to make it happen the day after her birthday (shock factor). After a secret trip out-of-state to a family jeweler and a spa day for Cindy so I could ask her parents' permission, the proposal was ready. On 9/30/09, I entered her classroom with "Oh, The Places You'll Go!" by Dr. Seuss, birthday balloons, and a video camera in hand. The ring was placed in a hole cut in the back of the book along with a custom poem, and a substitute was there to take over her day after she said yes!"

What a story! Congratulations Michael and Cindy.

Spotlight on Kristen Alexander

We have been incredibly lucky to work with some really great wedding vendors throughout the years. One of those is Kristen Alexander, who has photographed several of our recent weddings. Kyle and Chris

Kyle and Chris are one of those couples who, when you are around them, it is just so darn obvious that they are truly in love and have so much fun together. On October 24th, they tied the knot at Rock Springs Presbyterian Church and held their reception in the Garden Tent following the ceremony.

Kyle has an incredibly unique and totally gorgeous style that she incorporated into every part of her reception.....it was part rustic, part vintage, part Anthropologie and totally knock-your-socks beautiful. She played up the vintage feel by using antique crocheted table linens on her tables, vintage cake stands, and rustic-inspired centerpieces that were dripping with orange, blue, violet and green flowers. To top it off, star-shaped chandeliers made of branches
were installed and hung from the tent ceiling.
Incredible!

Kate and Matt from Altmix Photography were there all night to capture every moment from the lively reception. They even created a "photo booth" complete with fun props for guests to enjoy!

Part of our jobs as wedding planners is knowing the latest up & coming trends in the industry. This means perusing blogs, wedding websites and bridal magazines (we know—what a tough job!!) in attempt to scout out the new ‘it’ thing. So, we figured that we’d share a few of our favorite things!....

Furniture: Whether it’s a cabana filled with a cool seating arrangement, or white leather couches with glass accent tables, or even a printed rug, there is something so chic about incorporating furniture & residential accessories into an event space. Replacing traditional seating with lounge furniture in your reception space is a great way to set the tone and create the right atmosphere.

Clear Lucite Chairs: What's not to love about these?! They're super modern and sleek and really dress up any room. Plus, you can have transfers made of your monogram or initial to add to the chair for a personalized touch.

Chandeliers & Alternative Lighting: We love the look of adding specialty lighting to a reception space for an unexpected and dramatic design element.

Here's another fabulous wedding by Ashley Baber. For those of you that are not familiar with Ashley, you MUST check out her website. Not only is she the girl to go to if you're looking for an amazing wedding coordinator, she also has a killer eye for event decor and design AND what the newest bridal trends are. And by looking at her blog, she seems to have a minor obsession with Christian Louboutins, which makes me like her even more!

Jessa and Barrett got married here this past June. They both have a passion for travel and actually moved to China after their wedding, so they incorporated bits of the Chinese culture into different parts of their wedding. The thing I remember most about this couple is that their love for each other was so immense and so clear, and their number one priority of the day was making sure that the ceremony was meaningful and special.

Last summer we hosted Melissa and Jason's wedding reception in the Piedmont Room. Melissa chose a fantastic color scheme of BRIGHT pink and navy blue--such a fun and different combo! Larry from Foxgloves & Ivy created the most beautiful, lush centerpieces. The all-white flowers lended to a very classic, crisp, and elegant feel set against Melissa's navy silk table linens. One of our favorite wedding coordinators, Ashley of Ashley Baber Weddings, coordinated the ceremony and the reception and also assisted Melissa in choosing her decor and other vendors. Laura Negri captured every detail and was kind enough to share some of her favorite photos with us.
